My name is Miriam and I am the owner of Lazuna Events. I would like to let you know a little about my background and how I came to start Lazuna Events.
I was born in Dublin and as an only child was blessed with wonderful parents who supported me though many roads in my life. I was always an organiser and I remember my first event I organised was a running competition when I was about 11 years old. Myself and my friend collected 10p from all the children so that we could buy sweets for everyone who entered the races. Looking back now it wasn’t very successful, but everyone did get some sweets.
When I was 18, I did my Leaving Certificate and I helped organise our Graduation Party. We had our dinner in the school and then transported everyone to a hotel a couple of miles away so that we could enjoy the party. Afterwards we organised 2 double decker buses into Dublin City Centre to dance our way into the early hours of the morning. One big thing I remember about that night was meeting some players from the Irish Football team which was the great team that was managed by Jack Charlton. That was the highlight of my night as I loved football.
After finishing school, I went on to do a secretarial course and got a job as an Office Junior working in a Transport Company. I worked my way into different positions within the company and ended up as PA to the Sales Director. Part of this role was organising many events from Sales Meetings, Golf Outings, Christmas Parties and to a social club for the staff. I gained loads of experience organising the Corporate Events and loved every minute of it.
A few years later, I started working for a Pharmaceutical company as PA to the Managing Director. This role evolved into PA & Events Manager as the company grew. I organised all the staff meetings and events including events in London, Amsterdam, Lisbon, and Monte Carlo. These conferences were so intense as we had loads of delegates arriving from our offices all over the world. Monte Carlo was the biggest event with over 300 people attending for the week-long conference. The final night of the Conference ended with a Ball in the Casino de Monte-Carlo.
Over the years I worked for a few other companies in different roles. About 8 years ago, I changed my career and ended up teaching learners about IT, Reception and Administration skills. I enjoyed this role very much which took me down the road of becoming a Course Manager for a Training Academy. The upmost attention to detail is required to ensure that we achieve the highest grades in the overall certification process. I check everything repeatedly until I am totally happy that its ready for submission.
In May 2019, I married the most amazing man. We decided to get married in Lanzarote which is where my family own a property for over 16 years. I introduced my husband Michael to Lanzarote 6 years prior to our wedding and he loved it as much as me. So, when Michael asked me to marry him, it was a no brainer to hold our wedding on this gorgeous island. I had website with all the information about the island so that all our guests would have all the information available to them before they arrived. It was the most amazing couple of days with all our loved ones.
After arriving back from Lanzarote, my friend Anna suggested that I set up a wedding planning business and she helped me come up with the name Lazuna Events. I am so excited to be able to help couples make their dream day come true in either Ireland or Lanzarote. I loved every minute of organising our wedding in Lanzarote and I know from personal experience how time-consuming wedding planning can be and also how much attention to detail is involved so that nothing is missed.
That is why I am here to help relieve couples of the stress that can come with planning a wedding and share my knowledge and expertise with them.
